How to Care for Your Braces & Aligners

3 min read · Omega Dental

Braces and aligners work best when you look after them. A little daily care keeps treatment on schedule and your teeth healthy along the way.

Keep them clean

Food traps easily around braces, so brush after every meal and floss carefully with a floss threader. For clear aligners, rinse and gently brush them daily, and always brush before putting them back in.

Watch what you eat

Avoid hard, sticky and very sugary foods that can damage brackets or wires — like hard nuts, sticky candy and ice. Cut crunchy foods into small pieces to protect your braces.

Wear aligners as instructed

Clear aligners only work if worn 20–22 hours a day. Keep to your schedule and store them in their case when eating, so they don't get lost or damaged.

Don't skip your appointments

Regular adjustments keep your treatment moving. If a wire or bracket comes loose, call us — small issues are quick to fix and prevent delays.
